Oh I have a lot of half baked ramblings left on the subject , but have changed my approach to the problem.
Instead of endless pontification and streching of my literary capibliities, I have decided to address the issue with a 3 dimensional slider, which will calculate and suggest the technologies and budget expectations the curious ( = anyone interested ) should anticipate.
The slider will balance and maniplate results based on wants and needs.
Slider 1: Want. $$$$ choose a budget.
Of course you want it all as cheap as possible, but all technology has a price, and what you are willing to pay for said tech is a key guiding factor.
Slider 2: Performance needs. As in traffic expectations, page speed and so on.
Slider 3: Design needs. How much bling do you need. This could be complex functions i addition to “rich” media.
Slider 4: Control needs. What is the level of management/control you the need.
Ranging from complete DYI to “I am a dreamer , not an engineer”.
This may also be called the independance quotent.
